Someone to talk to, laugh with, and look forward to seeing
Mental engagement that keeps the mind active and the day interesting
A trusted set of eyes — so your family catches small changes before they become big problems
What a Visit Actually Looks Like:
A genuine hour of companionship, not a quick check-in with a consistent, familiar caregiver.
We listen to your loved one's needs, which may be different from what the family is expecting — and we honor both
Light practical help: changing a bulb, reaching something high, taking out the trash, the small things that pile up
A look at the calendar for any upcoming appointments worth flagging
We make sure there's food in the fridge and they're staying hydrated
A written update to the family after every visit, so you always know how they're doing

When You Can’t Be There, A Kind Neighbor Can

They simply want to know:
“Is Mom really doing okay?”

A KindNeighborCare visitor spends one hour with your loved one at their home. The visit typically includes warm conversation and companionship, a discreet check of the fridge and pantry to ensure there's adequate food, observation of hydration, and a general companion visit — noting mood, mobility, and any visible concerns. Optional activities like watercolor painting or planting flowers can be added. After the visit, you'll receive a short written summary so you always know how things went.
KindNeighborCare is owned and operated by Erin and Brian Harrison, lifelong Dallas residents. Erin holds a degree in psychology and brings six years of experience working directly with people as a preschool teacher. Brian has been in the tech industry for over 15 years and teaches university courses in customer experience. We take the trust you place in us seriously and we're happy to answer any questions about our background during your free consultation.
No, KindNeighborCare is a companion visit service, not a licensed medical or home health agency. We don't administer medications, provide physical therapy, or perform clinical assessments. What we do is provide consistent, caring human contact and observational support that helps families stay informed and helps seniors feel less isolated. If a medical concern arises during a visit, we will contact the family promptly.
We currently serve seniors living independently in Lake Highlands, Lakewood, Casa Linda, University Park and Highland Park. Not sure if your parent's home falls within our area? Give us a call at (469) 238-2318 or book a free consultation, we're happy to discuss options.
After each visit, you'll receive a brief written update typically a short paragraph noting your loved one's mood, any observations worth flagging (food supply, hydration, mobility), and highlights from the visit. It's designed to be easy to read, not clinical. The goal is simple peace of mind: you'll know someone kind was there, and you'll know how Mom or Dad seemed that day.
This is very common. Many seniors are proud of their independence and may initially resist help. We find that framing the visits as a friendly neighborly companion visit rather than "care" helps ease the transition. We move at your parent's pace and focus on building genuine rapport first. Our free consultation is a great opportunity to talk through how to introduce the service in a way that feels comfortable for your family.
If we notice something that warrants immediate attention such as a fall risk, signs of confusion, an empty fridge, or anything that concerns us, we will contact you directly and promptly, not just note it in the summary. In an emergency, we will call 911 first and notify you immediately after. Part of our value is being the eyes and ears that help you catch problems early, before they become crises.
Absolutely. Many of our families have siblings or other relatives who want to stay in the loop. Just let us know who should receive the summary and we'll make sure everyone is included. Keeping the whole family informed is part of how we provide peace of mind.
It depends on your parent's level of independence and how much reassurance your family needs. The Peace of Mind plan (1 visit/month) is a good starting point for seniors who are active and largely self-sufficient but live alone. The Weekly Check-in (4 visits/month) is our most popular option for families who want consistent contact. Enhanced Support (8 visits/month) works well when there are more frequent concerns or the senior benefits from regular social engagement. We're happy to talk through the right fit during your free consultation.
No contract, cancel anytime. We want to make sure the arrangement is right for your family. We'll cover everything during our free consultation call upfront so there are no surprises.
KindNeighborCare is a private-pay service and is not currently billed through Medicare or standard health insurance. Our pricing is designed to be accessible, and we're happy to discuss your situation during the free consultation.

Erin and Brian Harrison are lifelong Texans, rooted in the Lake Highlands community, where they've spent years raising their four boys and building a life centered on family. Like many, they've navigated the deeply personal experience of caring for aging parents and it's that experience that drives everything they do.
Erin holds a degree in psychology from the University of Texas, a foundation that has shaped every chapter of her career. After working in the pharmaceutical industry and dedicating years to raising her family, she found her calling in early childhood education, where she has spent the past six years as a preschool teacher, bringing both understanding and genuine warmth to those in her care.
Brian is a communications professional with over 15 years of experience in corporate design and technology, bridging the gap between strategy and human-centered thinking. A graduate of East Texas A&M University, he also serves as an adjunct instructor teaching college-level courses in customer experience design, a reflection of his belief that how we communicate care matters as much as the care itself.
Together, they bring empathy, expertise, and a firsthand understanding of what families go through, because they've been there too.
